A church family in San Antonio since 1986.
Christian Apostolic Church was planted in 1986 with a vision to serve both the English- and Spanish-speaking communities of San Antonio. In many families the parents and grandparents speak mostly Spanish while the younger generations speak English, and we wanted every generation to worship together. A missionary heart, and God’s clear leading, shaped that decision.
People tell us the same thing again and again: “I felt welcomed the moment I walked in.” We are real people, down-to-earth and unassuming, and we love and accept every soul, whatever the struggle, the pain, the past, the tattoos or the piercings. Many also say they felt the presence of God as soon as they entered, and that presence is what makes the welcome real.
Through this ministry God has saved and rescued countless lives: some brought back from the brink of suicide, marriages restored, drugs and alcohol and painful pasts left where they belong, in the past. We have seen miracles of healing, deliverance and provision. The gifts of the Spirit are alive in our services, because we believe and know that God still moves in His Church today.
Our church is on the inner west side of San Antonio, and we are committed to staying and serving right where God planted us. People come to us from all around the metro area, and we are delighted to be a church home for all of them.
Pastor Kyle Nix has been part of Christian Apostolic Church since its first day in 1986, serving on the founding pastoral staff, first as associate pastor and, since 1996, as senior pastor. His ministry began as a young preacher in Peru, where he also helped in Sunday School and youth work, and continued in Costa Rica, where he served on the mission board. He later helped start a bilingual mission in Beaverton, Oregon, before moving to San Antonio.
He preaches the Bible every week, shepherds families through every season of life, and has ministered as an evangelist in churches across several states. He also served on the committee that formed the original South Texas district of the UPCI, since reorganized as the South Central Texas district.
He and his wife, Sis. Lora Nix, have raised their children in the faith, and each is serving the Lord today: one as a licensed UPCI minister, one as a seasoned church leader and administrator, one as Sunday School director, and one who is beginning to develop his own calling. As First Lady, Sis. Lora leads and mentors the women of the church in the spirit of Titus 2:3–5.
